Miss Sango-Jackson and Miss Simons welcome the 2016/17 Reception class.
We hope you have all had a great half term break.
Our Power of Reading book this half term is ‘Naughty Bus’, and our topic is ‘Transport’.
The children continue to make great progress in their reading and are blending and segmenting very well. We will continue to learn about more diagraphs and trigraphs, and we will also look at different ways to make the same sound. Reading books will continue to be sent home on a Monday, please remember to return the books back the following Monday, and don’t forget to sign the reading diary.
The children’s writing skills have really developed so we will continue to provide the children with opportunities to write labels, lists, descriptions stories and captions to develop their writing skills further.
In Mathematics, the children will continue to develop their number and shape, space and measure work. We will continue to count, order and recognise numbers to 20 and beyond, and we will continue to explore addition and subtraction. We will also practise doubling, halving and sharing, as well as continuing to explore different shapes and their properties, measuring different objects and having a go at different problem solving activities.
Our library day will continue to be on a Tuesday.
